First Challenge

Check out this photo...its a clue to our first ever challenge here at Birds of a Feather.

Carol and I love pretty much everything that has been handmade!
With Christmas fast approaching now is the perfect time to be thinking about handmade gifts.
So, our challenge to you is to make a gift, look for something that you would perhaps throw away and transform it into something special, alter an item or create a budget gift. We are not expecting anyone to
make a tin man, but by all means if your feeling inspired give one a go!

Take a look at this very special gift I received some time ago from our very own Carol. Each envelope has been hand stamped and coloured, one of the reasons why I love this is that so much time and effort has gone into its creation.
And, if you think the inside is wonderful, just take a peek at the lid! Carol has used crackle medium and paints to achieve this antique appearance.

Here a gift I have made using an old plastic, hand cream container. I covered the container with Mod Podge and layers of tissue paper and paint before adding embellishments.
This was made for a Christmas swap I took part in, hence the tiny bell and angel image.

Here is another altered container, this one is an Eclipse mints tin. I love to alter these. This one is covered in tiny beads and Lumiere paints.I have made a little tag book to fit inside.

Below is a handy gift to give the person who has everything ..a personalised desk calendar.
There are many sites on the Internet than allow you to down load and print pages for calendars
Checkout these sites...Free 2011 calendar
Vertex42 gives you the option to download blank calendar pages.
Printactivities This site also has cool downloads that you could use to create a child's activity book, amongst other things! Well worth checking out.

Try decorating the wrong side of a box canvas to make
a personalised gift for a friend or family member.

Here is a beautiful hand made gift that was sent to me from a special blogger friend
who lives in Germany! The lovely gift box, matching card and beads have all been hand made.
There are many talented artists amongst us, if your stuck for ideas check out these fun sites

We would love to see what you can create! Remember to email Carol or myself a photo of your gift creation, and if you have a favorite website or blog that inspires you do feel free to send us a link in the comments section of this blog.

Thanks for joining in ....we sure hope that someone does join in!

Happy Crafting everyone.
Also we would love you to answer our poll questions
in the right hand colum. So we can make it a great site
